The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Sunday morning cast his vote at Educational Institution No. 101069 in Tacabamba district, Chota province, Cajamarca region as part of the second round of the regional elections.

The Head of State, as well as 7 million voters, returned to the polls to elect governors in nine regions where no candidate got more than 30% of the valid vote required by law, during the 2022 Regional and Municipal Elections held on October 2.

In addition to Cajamarca, regional elections take place in Amazonas, Callao, Cusco, Lambayeque, Lima Provinces, Moquegua, Pasco, and Piura.

In statements to the press, President Castillo reiterated his call for dialogue among all political forces and people who think differently.

"I assure people who think differently that the Government is willing to engage in a dialogue, to see things democratically, respecting the country's institutions and governability," he stated.

Regarding the impeachment motion against him, the dignitary said that this is part of the political game.

In addition, Mr. Castillo said he is confident that a sector of the political class will understand that this is a fair government elected by popular vote.

The country's top official underscored that there are urgent issues that need to be addressed such as the elimination of major inequalities in the country, as well as the consequences of the war between Russia and Ukraine.
