The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Monday called on Peruvians to maintain constant dialogue, calm, and peace in order to move the country forward, noting that peaceful protest demonstrations are welcome because they are guaranteed by the Constitution.

Boluarte's remarks were contained in her speech delivered during the launch of the "Cooking with Fish" initiative, within the framework of the A Comer Pescado (Let's Eat Fish) program, in Lima's Villa El Salvador district.

"Hence the importance of maintaining constant dialogue, tranquility, calm, and peace, because only by doing so we can move forward, if protest demonstrations, which are valid and guaranteed by the Constitution, are peaceful (…)," she said.

Likewise, the President underlined that, as a result of violence, cost of living raises, bus fares increase, the country runs out of products, and there is no transportation available.

Mrs. Boluarte went on to say that Peru and the Government lose millions of soles during the days of protests. The same occurs in the private sector, due to the lack of tourism and economic movement.

"Peruvians have to understand one another in a single language, because we must move the country forward together to allocate greater budgets to soup kitchens and community kitchens, as well as to the Vaso de Leche (Glass of Milk) feeding program, but also to provide better education," she said.

Similarly, the country's top official said that it is important to promote eating fish to eradicate anemia, as well as access to drinking water.

"Just as we want to provide access to drinking water, education, and health, we are building warm houses in the south, more than 500 houses, but warm kits will be distributed to the population first," the President stated.
