14:45 | Pacasmayo (La Libertad region), Dec. 3.

The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Friday announced that the review of contracts will begin in January.

According to the Head of State, the measure aims to lower gas cylinder prices and boost the massive use of said resource for the benefit of the entire population.

"We will not only lower gas (prices), because we cannot be begging for a (filled) gas cylinder, but also make the Camisea natural gas available to all of us with the aim of supplying it to all Peruvians. We will make the product of Peruvians available to Peruvians," he expressed.

"There is a rumor out there because some people know that we will review the contracts in January, and they want some of those amounts to end up in the hands of the mafia. We will not allow that to happen," he added.

The top official said that thanks to these funds populations will be provided with water services, schools will be built, and prices of basic necessities will be lowered.

Likewise, Mr. Castillo remarked that he has "no fear" because he knows how to work alongside the people.

"Therefore, fellow citizens, I ask you to be vigilant of the budget which is allocated to the peoples," he stated.

Remarks were made during his visit to Pacasmayo province where he inaugurated an oxygen plant.

The President also said he visited said facilities as a sign of his administration's concern for the health of people.

"Life comes first; there is oxygen here (...) this oxygen plant is for the people, it is for all of you," he noted.
