Last Sunday, the Corporate Prosecutor's Office Specialized in Corruption Crimes by Officials of Southern Lima carried out steps to preliminary arrest —for 10 days— some Army members, within the framework of an investigation on theft of fuel between 2013 and 2018.
During today's ceremony, the top official stressed that —throughout history— the Army has contributed to making the nation greater through its commitment to the country's sovereignty.
Moreover, the statesman stressed that the Army is currently immersed in the process of institutional transformation with a view to the
2021 Independence Bicentennial in order to consolidate itself as an institution that is modern, humane, professional, and close to the population.
The President also said the Army is prepared to take on the new challenges throughout the country, after highlighting that it deploys numerous actions for development: it participates in the internal order, as well as in the fight against: terrorist remnants, illicit drug trafficking, and organized crime.
