Peru PM: Government provides permanent support to gas truck explosion victims

11:11 | Lima, Jan. 24.

Peruvian Prime Minister Vicente Zeballos on Friday affirmed that the Government provides permanent support to the victims and their relatives affected by a gas tanker truck deflagration in Lima's Villa El Salvador district, which caused the death of 8 people and injured more than 40 citizens.

The high-ranking official arrived in the area in the early morning —along with other State ministers— and inspected the work done in favor of those hit by the tragedy.

During his tour, the head of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM) said the urgent matter was the attention of the victims and indicated that —with Housing Minister Rodolfo Yañez— he coordinates the arrival of social programs in that sector.

The chief of the ministerial cabinet toured the emergency area and spoke with affected neighbors to know their situation after the blaze and prioritize the attention from the different State sectors.

"We are here with a group of ministers to corroborate the progress. The best way is to work in a coordinated way (…)," he stated.

The head of the PCM was accompanied by Ministers Carlos Moran (Interior), Elizabeth Hinostroza (Health), Maria Antonieta Alva (Economy-Finance), and Walter Martos (Defense).
