Peru: OAS Secretary-General candidate meets with high authorities in Belize

The Peruvian candidate for Secretary-General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Ambassador Hugo de Zela, held meetings with the highest authorities of Belize, Peru's Foreign Affairs Ministry reported on Friday.


De Zela addressed the Peruvian candidacy proposal with both dignitaries.

So far, the diplomat has gathered with authorities from Grenada, Barbados, Saint Lucia, Guyana, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Ecuador, Paraguay, Mexico, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, among others.

As is known, the Peruvian candidacy aims at contributing to the strengthening of the continental organization as a space for dialogue, as well as to generating consensus.

Another objective is to find effective solutions to the principal conflicts in the Western Hemisphere.

The OAS Secretary-General election will be held on March 20, 2020.
