Peru: Newly-inaugurated Minsa's health center to serve 10,000 people in Cieneguilla

10:18 | Lima, Jan. 5.

The Ministry of Health (Minsa) has inaugurated a new health care center in Lima's Cieneguilla district called Nueva Gales, in order to decentralize primary care, thus benefiting 10,000 inhabitants within said jurisdiction.

The health facility will provide differentiated triage services for people with mild respiratory symptoms.

The inauguration took place on Monday within the framework of the inter-institutional cooperation agreement reached by the Municipality of Cieneguilla, the Nueva Gales Housing Association, and the Directorate of Integrated Health Networks in Eastern Lima (DIRIS Lima Este).

Nueva Gales is the fifth health facility in Cieneguilla after the maternal and child health center "Tambo Viejo," health posts "Huaycan de Cieneguilla" and "Colca," as well as the Community Mental Health Center, the health sector said in a press release.

Hard work

The new health center will offer medical specialties like general medicine, growth and development, immunizations, obstetrics, dentistry, laboratory, and pharmacy.

"It has been hard work, but we have made it. Now, there are five health centers in Cieneguilla district, and we continue to decentralize primary care with this recently inaugurated facility," DIRIS Lima Este Director Antonieta Alarcon stated.

Nueva Gales Health Center has a team of health professionals and technical staff. It will be open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

Cooperation

"DIRIS Lima Este purchased equipment and furniture for this new primary care center, the land area —donated by the community— is 547 square meters, and the Municipality of Cieneguilla executed the infrastructure and physical facilities at this property," Minsa explained.
