Peru: New poll shows voting intentions for Lima's mayoral race

Candidate Renzo Reggiardo (Peru Patria Segura party) leads voting intentions —with 19% support— for Lima's mayoral race ahead of October's regional and local elections, latest Ipsos Peru poll revealed on Monday.

According to the survey, Reggiardo is followed by Ricardo Belmont (Peru Libertario) with 15% support, Daniel Urresti (Podemos Peru) with 9%, and Alberto Beingolea (PPC) with 7%.

Luis Castañeda Pardo (Solidaridad Nacional), Esther Capuñay (Union por el Peru), and Enrique Cornejo (Democracia Directa) register 5% of voting intentions each.

Humberto Lay (Restauracion Nacional) and Jorge Muñoz (Accion Popular) are next with 4% support each, while Diethell Columbus (Fuerza Popular) is backed by 3% of likely voters.

The poll shows 8% support for the heading "others," whereas blank and null vote options attracted 10% of respondents, and 6% of those surveyed do not specify.

Also, the survey found that 60% of respondents would not vote if voting was optional.

As is known, Peruvian citizens will go to polls to elect new mayors and governors on October 7th, 2018.
