Peru's Housing, Construction and Sanitation Minister Carlos Lozada has flown to Puno to step up efforts in the fight against COVID-19 in said region.
The load included 47 oxygen cylinders and 10 oxygen concentrators, as well as propofol ampoules provided by Minsa.
"We have brought these mechanical ventilators to be distributed among the (health care) networks operated by the Ministry of Health and EsSalud in the region, and they are part of the joint efforts that we all make," the government official said on Wednesday upon arrival in the city of Juliaca.
Meanwhile, over 1.5 tons of personal protective equipment and medicines arrived by land to be delivered to Minsa hospitals in said Andean region.
In total, the minister has delivered nearly 7 tons of medicines and medical equipment to Puno on his first visit as a representative of the Executive Branch. This aid will enhance the health strategy to fight the coronavirus pandemic in Puno.
In Juliaca, Lozada visited Carlos Monge Medrano Hospital, where he inspected the implementation of the temporary care and isolation center, which is carried out by the Lima 2019 Special Legacy Project. A COVID-19 unit with 50 hospital beds will be set up at said location.
Afterwards, he went to Manuel Nuñez Butron Hospital, in Puno, where he heard the demands and needs of the health personnel treating COVID-19 patients.
