Health Minister Oscar Ugarte on Saturday asked Peruvian citizens not to participate in demonstrations in Lima today, taking into account the context marked by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Likewise, the Cabinet member indicated that the National Police of Peru will be vigilant in order to guard immunization centers and prevent the State-run process from being affected.

"Therefore, we have the guarantee that what happened days ago, meaning that the vaccination process was interrupted due to a mobilization, will not happen again, especially at Campo de Marte, and we hope that it will not be interrupted this time," he said.

The vaccination against COVID-19 of people suffering from cancer and HIV kicked off on Saturday morning in Lima Metropolitan Area and Callao.

Health Minister Ugarte supervised the startup of the process at the National Institute of Neoplastic Diseases (INEN) in the capital city.
