The Municipality of Lima has condemned the acts of vandalism recorded in the wee hours of Wednesday against the mural painted in tribute to young men Inti Sotelo and Bryan Pintado, who had died in protests against the former Merino regime.

It must be noted that the signs of support for their relatives were removed from Lima's Abancay Avenue.

In a statement, the Lima commune indicated that —thanks to the records obtained from the Citizen Security Technical Team— it conducts the tasks of identifying those responsible for such actions.

Likewise, it informed that coordination with the artists —who designed the mural— has begun in order to create an immediate replacement.

The art piece in question is found in Block 1 of Grau Avenue. Besides, the posters showing support for the relatives of the two deceased men are located at the intersection of Abancay and Nicolas de Pierola.

Moreover, the municipality called for calm and to avoid any acts of violence, as well as to respect the various manifestations expressed by citizens on issues of public interest.

Some videos —posted on social media— also served to report the incident.
