13:28 | Lima, Apr. 23.

The Lima 2019 Pan American and Parapan American Games' preparedness will be tested at the Pan American Judo Championship on April 24-28 at the Sports Center 1 of VIDENA in the Peruvian capital Lima.

The tournament will gather the best judokas from 24 countries across the continent and draw the Organizing Committee's first conclusions.

In a press conference to announce the competition, Lima 2019 President Carlos Neuhaus shared Peruvian athletes' enthusiasm to meet the expectations.

"This is an important event as it will result in a series of conclusions about infrastructure and organizational support in sports. Such conclusions will help us improve ahead of the Pan American Games," he indicated.

Neuhaus emphasized the Peruvian team —composed of 17 judokas— will also shine at the continent's foremost judo competition.

The side of male athletes is led by Alonso Wong, Juan Miguel Postigos, and Yuta Galarreta, while Brillith Gamarra leads the female category list.

"We are confident our athletes will represent us well. I'm waiting to hear the national anthem and see the gold medals coming in," the Lima 2019's top authority commented.

"Hosting these types of tournaments, whose participants are set to shine at the (Lima 2019) Games, is quite motivating," he concluded.
