The Judicial Branch's Supreme Special Criminal Court on Thursday confirmed the ruling banning former National Council of the Magistracy (CNM) member Julio Gutiérrez Pebe from travelling overseas for a period of 18 months.
In this sense, the ban will be in force throughout the preparatory investigation phase, the Judiciary reported.
Said group was formed by magistrates of the Judiciary and Public Ministry, whose objective was to control the agencies responsible for administering justice in order to obtain illegal benefits.
He is accused of having coordinated the appointment of Judges Miguel Canahualpa and Armando Mamani, as well as the ratification of Judge Ricardo Chang.
Last April, the Supreme Court's Special Criminal Chamber declared unfounded an appeal request to extend Gutierrez Pebe's preventive detention for 12 months.
That time, an appearance measure was ordered, as well as the payment of S/30,000 (about US$8,408) as a bail bond.
On October 26, 2018, the Judiciary had issued his preventive detention for 18 month. Thus, he had been held in Lima's Miguel Castro Castro Prison.
