has reiterated that the import of nitrogenous fertilizer (urea) will arrive in Peru in a timely manner for the 2022-2023 agricultural season, which starts in August of this year.
The Cabinet member affirmed that although the 2022-2023 agricultural season starts this August, it begins with the works of preparing the land, irrigation, and furrows.
"Yet fertilization starts in September, October, and November," he explained.
Similarly, the government official indicated that the entire urea distribution logistics scheme has been ready since mid-August 2022.
"We have already started on July 1; all this institutional architecture has been completed during these 12 days, (it is) a comprehensive model," Alencastre said.
Moreover, the government official pointed out that the international call to purchase urea was launched through the Embassies provided by the Foreign Affairs Ministry to Midagri.
He also noted that 58 countries have already responded, and 142 initiatives have been collected, which will be evaluated to choose the best options.
