Citizen Zulema Tomas on Friday night resigned from her post as Minister of Health of Peru.

"I am grateful to you for granting me the honor of serving our country," she wrote in the resignation letter sent to President Martin Vizcarra.

Zulema Tomas served as head of the National Children's Health Institute (INSN) since 2015, before joining the Ministry of Health.

She earned a Master's degree in health administration and hospital management, plus another in education from Lima's Federico Villarreal University.
