The
President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Friday visited the oceanographic research vessel, BAP Carrasco, at Valparaiso Port, Chile, after it completed the 28th Scientific Expedition of Peru to Antarctica.
The Head of State and his delegation were welcomed by the vessel's commander, who asked the President to sign the ship's golden book.
On December 30, 2021, the BAP Carrasco set sail for Antarctica to embark on the 28th Scientific Expedition of Peru to the white continent.
The ship carried 98 expedition staff members, including scientists and soldiers, whose mission was to continue research projects in the fields of oceanography, science, and biology, thus reaffirming the commitment of the Peruvian State —before the international Antarctic community— to contribute to the study and build knowledge on said southern region.
