Peru: Head of State visits National Emergency Operations Center

16:59 | Lima, Oct. 15.

The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo paid a visit to the National Emergency Operations Center (COEN) on Friday.

During his visit, the Head of State toured the facilities accompanied by the head of the National Civil Defense Institute (INDECI) Carlos Yañez, as well as COEN staff members.

Moreover, the President participated in a 9.1 magnitude earthquake drill in the area of simulators inside the institution.

COEN monitors, validates, and provides official information on hazards, emergencies, and disasters for timely decision-making.

It operates 24 hours a day and 365 days a year, in coordination with regional, local, and sectoral operations centers.

Furthermore, COEN is an agency of the National Disaster Risk Management System (SINAGERD).
