Peru: Head of State, Fin Min meet to address issue of household economy

21:30 | Lima, Oct. 18.

The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Monday summoned Economy and Finance Minister Pedro Francke to the Government Palace in order to address ways to resolve different economic issues affecting the population.

Within this context, the agenda items focused on private investment, U.S. dollar price trend and development, and household economy.

Likewise —within the framework of the economic recovery— the agenda prioritized measures for the promotion of investment, the increase of public investment, massive use of natural gas, and economic support for vulnerable sectors.

On the other hand —as announced by the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF)— the Government evaluates tax reforms to have higher tax revenues and allocate them to top priorities like the health system, the strengthening of education, greater access to drinking water, and the principal goal, which is the reduction of tax evasion and avoidance.
