According to Minsa's Epidemiology, Illness Prevention and Control Director Gladys Ramirez, 130 GBS cases were reported by the end of the 24th week (June 9-15), whereas 348 cases were registered in the previous week (June 2-8).
Ramirez went on to add the number of
reports have decreased in regions: Piura, La Libertad, Lambayeque, Junin, and Lima, among others.
Cases dropped from 105 to 44 (Lima region), 77 to 19 (Junin), 33 to 5 (La Libertad), 60 to 33 (Piura), 26 to 10 (Cajamarca), and 16 to 4 (Lambayeque).
However, Ramirez indicated, Minsa will remain vigilant and carry on the planned actions.
Likewise, she informed many patients have been discharged and continue with the follow-ups and free-of-charge rehabilitation treatments.
"Minsa has undertaken all the possible measures to protect the population and face the outbreak by guaranteeing free treatment for all patients," the official said.
It should be noted the National Epidemiologic Surveillance Network (Renace) monitors the outbreak’s evolution on a daily basis.
