13:01 | Chota (Cajamarca region), Sep. 14.

Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Roberto Sanchez on Tuesday affirmed that the Government is committed to strengthening the articulation of exportable supply in peasant communities across Peru.

This was revealed in an event —held in Chota (Cajamarca region)— led by the President of the Republic Pedro Castillo, which featured 60 cooperatives offering organic products, represented by their leaders, executives, and farmers.

Sanchez stated that the export capacity of small-scale producers will be strengthened in order to enhance their trade capacities, thus enabling them to increase their incomes as well as to contribute to the economic and social development of their families and regions.

"This Government's commitment is to contribute to the development of small-scale agricultural producers, who are key players in the export chain across Peru. We have found that this will be possible through the encouragement and promotion of agricultural cooperatives," he said.

In this regard, the minister highlighted the recent Law No. 31335 on Improvement of Associativity of Agricultural Producers in Agricultural Cooperatives, which is aimed at developing a legal framework for the organizational strengthening, encouragement, and promotion of agricultural cooperatives of users.

During his participation, Sanchez emphasized that this meeting is the result of the collaborative efforts with various ministries such as Agriculture and Irrigation, Production, among others.

He also stressed the Government's commitment to supporting small-scale producers, by taking advantage of the current network of trade agreements that Peru has to spotlight the diversity of its products all over the world.
