The Government of Peru has announced new measures to curb the spread of COVID-19, which include
the lifting of the lockdown in provinces under extreme risk level.
Among the restrictions —which will be in effect from March 1 to 14— the Government decreed mandatory social immobility (curfew) between 9 p.m. and 4 a.m. the next day.
Additionally, mandatory social immobility will be in force all day long on Sundays, March 7 and 14.
The provinces under extreme risk are: Huaraz (Ancash region); Huamanga (Ayacucho region); Canchis (Cusco region); Huancavelica and Tayacaja (Huancavelica region); Huanuco (Huanuco region); Ica and Chincha (Ica region); Huancayo, Tarma, Chanchamayo, Satipo, and Chupaca (Junin region).
The list also includes Metropolitan Lima, Huaura, Barranca, Huarochiri, and Huaral (Lima region); Callao (Callao region); Maynas (Loreto region); Ilo (Moquegua region); Oxapampa (Pasco region); Puno (Puno region); and Tacna (Tacna region).
The capacity limit at outdoor locations for performing arts (mass events, carnivals and traditional festivals are prohibited), malls, shopping arcades, conglomerates, and department stores will be 20%.
At stores selling basic necessities, supermarkets, markets, bodegas, and pharmacies, the capacity limit will be 40%. Besides, delivery service at pharmacies and drugstores is allowed to operate 24 hours a day.
At restaurants and related facilities in ventilated indoor areas and those located outdoor, the capacity limit will be 30%. In addition, delivery service is allowed to operate from 4 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Meanwhile, at banks and other financial entities, the capacity limit will be 40%.
Likewise, salons, spas, barbershops, and related businesses are allowed to operate at 40% capacity.
At libraries, museums, archaeological monuments, cultural centers and galleries, botanical gardens, and zoos, the capacity limit will be 30%.
Finally, at locations for cultural education, the capacity limit will be 20%.
