Peru: Fin Minister will travel to France for OECD and investor meetings

The Executive Branch has authorized the trip of Peruvian Economy-Finance Minister Alex Contreras to Paris, France, on June 5-10 in order to participate in meetings of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and with investors.

According to Supreme Resolution No. 084-2023-PCM, published in the Official Gazette El Peruano on Friday, the trip was approved.

During his absence, the Economy-Finance portfolio will be entrusted to Culture Minister Leslie Urteaga.


The upcoming event will take place in Paris on June 7-8, 2023.

Said conclave seeks to focus the negotiations and face challenges jointly, in addition to building alliances with countries outside the OECD, proposing to work on three aspects: 1. Economic Resilience (Policies for a stronger, inclusive growth and economic values); 2. Future Frontiers (Innovative technology for net zero economies); and 3. Global Partnerships (A long-term commitment to the Indo-Pacific region).

Other meetings

On June 7, the Peruvian Government official will attend a parallel event called "Taxes and Development," at which the relationship of taxes with development priorities and the work of international tax cooperation will be negotiated.

Furthermore, the Cabinet member will meet with the OECD Secretary-General in order to discuss the delivery of the Initial Memorandum and the next steps in Peru's accession process.

On June 9, meetings with investors will be held to present Peru's macroeconomic strengths, investment opportunities, the economic boost plans that are being implemented for economic reactivation, among others.

Travel expenses are covered by the Ministry of Economy-Finance's budget.
