Peru: Film "Retablo" joins Netflix

The national film Retablo —directed by Alvaro Delgado-Aparicio— will be released on Netflix on July 29.

The global streaming platform made the announcement. Thus, it will make the Peruvian film available to audiences from various countries.

Retablo had its world premiere at the 2018 Berlinale and won the L`Oreal TEDDY Newcomer Award. To date, it has received 50 awards in various international festivals.

Likewise, Retablo made history after becoming the first Peruvian film nominated for the British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA).

Additionally, it was the first Peruvian movie nominated for Best International Film at the Independent Spirits Awards alongside: Parasite (South Korea), Invisible Life (Brazil), Les Misérables (France), Portrait of a Lady on Fire (France), and The Souvenir (UK).

Retablo also received two nominations for Best Director and Best Actor in the International Film Category at China's Golden Rooster Awards, thus winning both prizes.
