Friends and followers of Peruvian actor, singer, and composer Diego Bertie —who passed away last Friday after falling from the 14th floor of the building where he lived— on Saturday left flowers, messages, and photographs of different stages of his career as a sign of affection and appreciation for him.

"Artists never die", "We will always remember you, Diego," "You were part of our lives since the 90s," and "Rest in peace" could be read in some of the messages posted on a wall of the apartment building located in Lima's Miraflores district.

A "fan in love" specially dedicated these words to him: "My dear Diego, you left and leave us a great void in our hearts. Fly high my platonic love and enjoy your new life."

Outside the building lit candles could be seen. They were left during the vigil held last night by those who mourned the passing of the 54-year-old artist.

Last Friday, the José Casimiro Ulloa Emergency Hospital's Communications Office reported that Diego Bertie Brignardello had been brought into the facility at 04:10 a.m. (local time) and immediately attended to by health professionals, who confirmed his death.

Bertie had recently returned to the stage thanks to music and stated that he had many projects for the current year.

His foray into music took place in 1986. Afterwards, he was discovered and entered the world of soap operas, theater, and films.
