Peru FA Min to attend Lima Group meeting in Canada

Peru's Foreign Affairs Minister Gustavo Meza-Cuadra will participate in the Lima Group's 18th Foreign Affairs Ministers Meeting on February 20 in Ottawa (Canada).

The gathering is aimed at continuing the dialogue to find a political and peaceful solution to the Venezuelan crisis.  

In addition, Meza-Cuadra will participate in a ceremony marking the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Andean Community, set to take place in the Colombian city of Cartagena de Indias on February 19, 2020.

The minister's trip to Canada and Colombia —slated for February 18-22— was authorized by supreme resolution No. 017-2020-PCM, published in El Peruano official gazette.

The document stresses the importance of Meza-Cuadra's participation in said meetings, as they are relevant to the fulfilment of the country's foreign policy objectives.

Economy and Finance Minister Maria Antonieta Alva will take over the Foreign Affairs Ministry's office during his absence.

The resolution bears the signatures of Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra, Prime Minister Vicente Zeballos, and the Foreign Affairs Minister himself.
