Peru designates new Deputy Economy Minister

Through a supreme resolution, Peru's Economy-Finance Ministry (MEF) on Thursday made official the designation of Michel Canta Terreros as new Deputy Economy Minister.

Thus, MEF thanked the important services rendered by former Deputy Minister Hugo Perea.

About Canta 

Canta is an economist graduated from Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru (PUCP). He also holds a Master's Degree and a Ph.D. in Economics granted by McGill University in Canada.

Likewise, he has over 25 years of experience in financial system macroeconomics, as well as in the supervision and regulation of the financial and pension systems, and the Peruvian capital market.

Furthermore, Canta served as Head of Conasev (now known as Superintendence of Securities Market—SMV) and external consultant for the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in diverse countries belonging to Latin America, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East.
