Defense Minister Juan Carrasco highlighted the contribution of the Itinerant Social Action Platform (PIAS) vessels —of the Peruvian Navy— to the development of the country.
Carrasco's remarks were delivered on Sunday following his visit to B.A.P. Rio Yavari ship in the Amazon region of Loreto.
"We keep working for Peru! Minister Juan Carrasco visited the Itinerant Social Action Platform (PIAS in Spanish) vessel, B.A.P. Rio Yavari," the Ministry of Defense said on its official Twitter account.
"(Through PIAS) access to State services is guaranteed for the population of Loreto," reads the post.
PIAS vessels travel along rivers in the Peruvian Amazonia to reach out to and assist the most remote communities through campaigns that provide health care, legal advice, and paperwork help.
