Personnel from Cusco's Foreign Trade and Tourism Regional Management and the Tourism Police pay unexpected visits to tour operators at the Archaeological Park of Sacsayhuaman in order to verify and enforce compliance with the sanitary protocols aimed at preventing the spread of COVID-19.

The public servants also request local and national tourists to comply with biosafety measures, such as wearing masks and face shields; washing hands; and —above all— maintaining physical distance to avoid contagion.

These actions will also be carried out at different archaeological attractions to encourage a responsible economic and tourist reactivation. Thus, the government will not have the need to reimpose the closure of archaeological parks once again.

"The sole purpose is to avoid more infections in the population, as well as entering a lockdown again which, as we know, would harm the vast majority of the population," said Guillermo Barcena, Deputy Manager of Quality Facilitation.

The unexpected operations started on March 1, with emphasize on Sacsayhuaman, as it is one of the most visited places following the tours of Cusco.
