16:28 | Lima, Nov. 13.

Peru's Culture Ministry on Tuesday affirmed an increase on the entry fee to visit Machu Picchu has not been approved.

This statement was released in response to some media outlets indicating promotional fees in July and August would be suspended.

"None modification to Machu Picchu's entry fee has been approved; neither for nationals nor for foreigners," it expressed.

Likewise, the Ministry pointed out it is working on a comprehensive proposal aimed at creating a reorganization plan and improving tourists' experience when they visit the Inca citadel

Moreover, it will adopt the best decision in order to guarantee the preservation of the historical monument's unique and special characteristics.

Last Friday, Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Rogers Valencia announced the Central Government currently works on regulating the entry of tourists to Cusco region's gem Machu Picchu.

According to the official, this measure will be implemented in January 2019, adding the entrance to the sanctuary will rely on a schedule.
