Peruvian copper exports totaled US$12.260 billion between January and November 2019, an amount lower by 9.4% from the same period in 2018, the National Society of Mining, Oil, and Energy (SNMPE) has reported.
According to the guild, copper shipments (US$12.260 billion) accounted for 29% of the country's total exports, which amounted to US$42.512 billion from January to November.
Likewise, SNMPE said that copper shipments made up 49% of mining exports, thus reaching US$24.771 billion in the eleven-month period.
Moreover, the society reported that last November red metal shipments totaled US$1.131 billion, an amount 17% lower over the same period in 2018.
The main destination markets —for copper exports— were China, Japan, and South Korea.
Gold
On the other hand,
gold exports amounted to US$7.343 billion from January to November 2019, which represented a decline of 3.1% compared to the similar period in 2018.
Last November, Peruvian gold shipments reached US$668 million, a reduction of 3% over the same period in 2018.
The main target markets —for gold exports— are Switzerland, Canada, and India.
