Deputy Tourism Minister Jose Vidal noted that Peru is making progress in competitiveness, infrastructure, international openness, among other fields, during his speech at the
General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
The meeting will run through September 13 in Saint Petersburg.
Vidal stressed that Peru has been reinforcing actions to guarantee the security in terms of tourism.
Finally, Vidal said the Peruvian Government has placed special emphasis on tourism development, due to its importance in terms of foreign exchange and employment generation.
Among other activities, the minister participated in the handing over of the presidency of the UNWTO Committee on Tourism and Competitiveness, where he delivered opening remarks and underscored the work done by said committee during the 2015-2019 period, which focused on the preparation of "Tourism Policy and Strategic Planning."
