Colca Valley —Arequipa region's most visited attraction— prepares to receive 15,000 tourists during Peru's Independence Day holidays, Caylloma Province Mayor Romulo Tinta affirmed Wednesday.
According to Tinta, a large number of
vacationers is expected to arrive in Colca Valley from July 27-29, bearing in mind Peruvians usually travel inland during those national holidays.
In this sense,
holidaymakers will be able to visit the popular Condor's Cross Viewpoint, colonial churches, and pre-Inca archaeological complexes, as well as enjoy local gastronomy and traditional dances.
This year, the Colca Autonomous Authority (Autocolca) and local representatives have joined efforts to promote diverse tourist destinations located in Callalli, Sibayo, and Tuti districts belonging to Caylloma province.
It must be noted
Colca Valley welcomed 12,000 travelers during Independence Day holidays in 2017, a figure that is expected to increase this year.
A total of 134,000 tourists have visited this
Peruvian attraction so far in 2018. This figure is slightly higher than that recorded in the similar period last year.

The area offers numerous tourist services and —besides its natural beauty— visitors come to enjoy the majestic flight of the condor —an emblematic Andean bird.
The place is located four hours from Arequipa city, and there is a paved road leading to such natural site.
