Various citizen groups marched through the main streets of Downtown Lima on Saturday afternoon supporting the political groups which participated in the presidential runoff election held on June 6.

There were two mobilizations that brought together a large number of people —one of them in support of Fuerza Popular candidate Keiko Fujimori and another in support of Peru Libre nominee Pedro Castillo.

There were also marches supporting both candidates in various regions of the country.

The march in favor of Fuerza Popular gathered at 28 de Julio Boulevard in Downtown Lima, where Fujimori arrived to participate in a rally held there.

The mobilization was called to request "respect for the vote," and that electoral authorities resolve transparently the requests for annulment submitted by Fujimori's party over what they deem as alleged irregularities.

For their part, Peru Libre sympathizers traveled along Grau and Abancay Avenues to San Martin Square, where the main event was held. They also requested that their votes and electoral results be respected.

Both marches took place in a peaceful manner and had a large police presence.
