15:57 | Lima, Aug. 4.

Pedro Cateriano on Tuesday thanked President Martin Vizcarra for giving him the opportunity to serve as Prime Minister of Peru at such a critical moment for the country.

"Thank you, President Martin Vizcarra, for the opportunity that you gave me to serve our country at this critical juncture," he posted on Twitter this afternoon.

"It was an honor to work with you," the outgoing Cabinet chief added.

For his part, the Head of State thanked Cateriano for the service he provided as the President of the Council of Ministers.

"I thank Pedro Cateriano for the service he rendered to Peru, and it grieves me that Congress has rejected the vote of confidence for the first time in 20 years and amid a pandemic," the Peruvian leader expressed.

As is known, Cateriano was sworn in as the new Prime Minister of Peru on July 15 to replace Vicente Zeballos in the post.
