The Peruvian Army has sent the first flight with humanitarian aid to Secocha, the most affected population center by a landslide in Camana Province.

The natural event occurred on Sunday due to the heavy rains received in said locality.

Arequipa Region Governor Rohel Sanchez headed to the emergency area on board an Army helicopter. During the trip, he was accompanied by the head of the Regional Emergency Operations Center (COER), Guadalupe Suclla.

The officials brought water, mattresses, and plastic rolls to be distributed among the population affected by the rains.

The regional authority pointed out that this is a reconnaissance flight over the area. The aim is to explore the weather conditions and find a place for the landing of a larger aircraft that will carry humanitarian aid.

The National Meteorology and Hydrology Service (Senamhi) forecasts moderate to strong rains until Wednesday; hence the need to get to know the area to continue relying on humanitarian flights, as the land route leading to the place has been damaged by mudslides.
