Peru agro-exporters strike deals worth over US$230m in Europe

19:03 | Lima, Feb. 14.

Over 300 Peruvian agro-exporters closed trade commitments worth more than US$230 million at the world's largest trade show for fruits and vegetables, Fruit Logistica, Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru) informed Thursday.

This outcome greatly exceeded commercial expectations originally proposed by representatives of 60 national export companies, associations, and guilds.

During the event, held in Germany, blueberries, tangerines, and avocados were the most demanded products by thousands of international buyers.

Likewise, the countries showing the most interest in Peruvian supplies were Germany, Belgium, the United Kingdom, France, the Netherlands, the United States, China, South Korea, and Russia.

It should be noted organizers of Fruit Logisticaindicated the Peruvian stand was the most visited one among Latin American nations.

Peruvian participation at the trade show was promoted by the Foreign Trade and Tourism Ministry (Mincetur), PromPeru, the Peruvian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Support also came from Peru's Trade Office (Ocex) based in Germany, the Peruvian Embassy in Germany, and the Association of Peruvian Farming Producers (Agap).
