In this way, 3.4 million people would return to work in the private sector during the first three phases of the economic reopening plan.

Requejo informed that the economically active population (EAP) working in the formal private sector in Peru total around 3.8 million people.

"We are seeing that 500,000 jobs have yet to be reactivated in the last phase," he said in remarks to TV Peru.

The government official pointed out that the country will emerge from the impact of the coronavirus pandemic as economic engines restart progressively.

"This requires teamwork. Let us observe health measures, hand washing, the use of face masks, and social distancing," he emphasized.
