A new batch of 395,460 vaccine doses against COVID-19 from Pfizer pharmaceutical company has arrived in Peru, which strengthens the strategy for immunization against COVID-19 implemented by the Transition and Emergency Government.
The cargo landed at Lima's Jorge Chavez International Airport on Monday night and was received —on behalf of the Government— by Ministers
Oscar Ugarte (Health) and
Jose Chicoma (Production).
In addition, he noted that people with certain comorbidities are being vaccinated week after week.
For his part, the production minister affirmed that the arrival of this new batch not only ensures the health of the population but will help meet the country's economic growth expectations.
"The vaccines are the engine of economic recovery," he pointed out.
Chicoma stated that all people above 60 will be inoculated by the time the Transition and Emergency Government's term in office ends.
"We are completing the vaccination of people over 70 years of age, and the immunization of those over 60 will begin in the coming days," he explained.
