The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) on Thursday approved the national strategy to reactivate the tourism sector across the country for 2021-2023.
"This is an important plan that includes a series of measures for the economic reactivation, preservation, and sustainable development of the sector, within the framework of the declaration of the State of National Emergency due to COVID-19. It will be implemented in three years," the ministry pointed out.
According to the resolution, the strategy's general goal is to position Peru as a place of unique experiences based on its natural and cultural wealth, strengthening its reputation, with the aim of being recognized worldwide as a sustainable, competitive, quality, and safe tourist destination.
It should be noted that the preparation of this plan involved representatives of regional governments, local governments, as well as other public entities and tourism sector guilds.
Specific goals
The National Strategy for the Reactivation of Tourism Sector outlines three specific objectives:
(i) develop and strengthen the range of sustainable destinations
(ii) position Peru as a destination with safe first-rate tourism products
(iii) improve the sector's competitiveness by strengthening its institutions and the public-private articulation.
