Peru: Foreigners to make purchases worth $10 million at Alpaca Moda

Peru's Alpaca Moda business round deals are expected to reach US$ 10 million, the Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru) affirmed Wednesday.

This fashion event takes place on October 24-25, within the framework of Alpaca Fiesta —the most important event in the Inca country's Alpaca fur industry.

60 national companies will offer their goods —such as coats, sweaters, and accessories— to buyers from Germany, Argentina, China, South Korea, Spain, the United States, France, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, and Russia.

Business people currently look for new products made from this luxury fabric in order to supply their facilities around the world.

Tory Burch, Marc Jacobs, and Maud Heline (United States); Oilily and Suitsupply (the Netherlands); Franco Ferraro and Tiziano Guardini (Italy); as well as A.P.C. (France) are some of the brands using this material.

The buyers were selected with the support from Peru's Trade Offices (OCEX) and the Foreign Trade-Tourism Ministry (Mincetur).

This event is part of the promotion efforts undertaken by Alpaca del Peru (Peru's Alpaca) brand.

Held every two years, Alpaca Moda's aim is to promote the commercial exchange between foreign and national companies, as well as to generate trends and styles in the fashion world.

As is known, Peru is the leading alpaca fiber producer and has the largest population of this camelid around the globe, outpacing regional competitors like Bolivia and Chile.
