Malls Peru informed today that started the construction of the new shopping center denominated Los Jardines Open Plaza in Trujillo (La Libertad), the fifth of the Open Plaza chain which will demand an investment of 20 million dollars.
Malls Peru is a business unit of Saga Falabella, which develops power centers, that is, commercial centers distinguished by having at least two anchor stores together and smaller operators around.
Power centers offer consumers easy access to stores speeding up their purchases, compared with bigger malls.
Malls Peru operates four power centers in the country and Los Jardines Open Plaza will be built over a 25,000 square meters area in the land of the old Los Jardines Hotel.
The Shopping Center will include the Tottus Supermarket and the hardware store Sodimac as anchor stores. It will have 20 more stores, such as Banco de Crédito del Perú (BCP), BBVA Banco Continental, Radio Shack, Lavanderías Pressto, Do it, and food places such as China Wok and Norky’s.
Los Jardines Open Plaza will create 1,000 direct jobs and 3,000 indirect jobs, indicated the general manager of Malls Peru, José Antonio Contreras.
