The 20th edition of the Latin Grammy Awards kicked off Wednesday with the Latin Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences presenting awards for musical excellence, with one of the recipients being the acclaimed Peruvian singer Eva Ayllon.
The legendary Afro-Peruvian artist received this award for making contributions of exceptional artistic significance to Latin music throughout her career.
Eva Ayllon, 63, was honored during a special ceremony and private lunch at Waldorf Astoria in Las Vegas.
The event was held within the framework of the Latin Grammy Week celebration honoring 20 years of excellence in Latin music.
The award was voted on by the Recording Academy's Board of Trustees.

Latin Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences is an international, membership-based organization comprised of Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking recording artists, musicians, songwriters, producers, and other creative and technical recording professionals.
The organization is dedicated to improving the quality of life and cultural condition for Latin music and its makers.
In addition to producing the Latin Grammy Awards to honor excellence in the recorded arts and sciences, the Latin Recording Academy provides educational and outreach programs for the Latin music community either directly or through its Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation.
