Peru's Interior Ministry (Mininter) and the European Union (EU) launched a scheme of workshops for Peruvian criminal investigation police officers so as to strengthen their fight against organized crime in the South American country.

The two virtual sessions will be conducted by European experts, and their thematic axes will focus on "Cybercrime and Technological Crimes," as well as "International Cooperation."

Both workshops include the participation of judges and prosecutors, which will improve inter-institutional coordination between justice operators.

The first one will address the new techniques to investigate online shopping and payment fraud, as well as social networks, child pornography, websites, among others.

The presentations will be given by L'adjudant-chef Christian Bordenave (from France) and Spanish National Police Deputy Inspector Juan Francisco Benitez.

The training will be provided to members of the High Technology Crime Investigation Division (Divindat) of the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (Dirincri), as well as the National Anti-Drug Directorate (Dirandro), and the Intelligence Directorate (Dirin), in addition to two judges and three prosecutors.

The second workshop will provide essential theoretical knowledge on international judicial cooperation and will put what they have learned into practice.

As part of this session, simulations will be performed and real cases will be reviewed to analyze possible mistakes, seeking solutions and proposing recommendations to improve the functioning of the criminal justice system.
