President Vizcarra brings mechanical ventilators to four regions in northern Peru

Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra visited Tumbes, Piura, Lambayeque, and La Libertad regions, where he delivered new mechanical ventilators to increase the capacity of intensive care units and start up hospital infrastructures for the care of COVID-19 patients.


The working trip took place on Monday as part of the Government's response to the coronavirus pandemic.

In his first activity, he participated in the delivery of 5 stationary mechanical ventilators and 4 portable ventilators, which can be used in patients who live far from health centers.

As part of this journey, the President met with regional authorities to inform them of the actions in the fight against the pandemic.

At the end of the meeting, he reported that projects under Arranca Peru (Get off the ground, Peru) Program will generate greater investment to create sources of work, such as the maintenance of the neighborhood road network, which will help boost the economic reactivation in said region.

After these activities, the statesman headed to Piura region, where he provided mechanical ventilators and visited the temporary hospital facility at La Videnita sports center, situated in 26 de Octubre district, which has a capacity of 200 beds for COVID-19 patients and 40 ICU beds.

Trip to Lambayeque and La Libertad

Additionally, the Peruvian leader went to Lambayeque region, where he visited the temporary hospitalization unit located at Carlos Augusto Salaverry School, in Chiclayo city, which is equipped with 100 hospital beds and 25 ICU beds. 

12 mechanical ventilators and 4 portable ventilators were delivered during this visit.

Finally, Mr. Vizcarra arrived in La Libertad region, where he visited the new temporary hospitalization unit set up at Mariscal Ramon Castilla Military School, in Trujillo city, which is equipped with 100 beds and received 12 mechanical ventilators.

Peru's top official was joined by Ministers Maria Antonieta Alva (Economy and Finance), Rodolfo Yañez (Housing, Construction and Sanitation), Carlos Lozada (Transport and Communications), and Walter Martos (Defense).
