16:32 | Lima, Jan. 21.

United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) Peruvian Ambassador Francisca Aronsson met with Peruvian-rooted actress Isabela Merced —star of blockbuster movies "Transformers" and "Dora the Explorer"— who was visiting Peru for New Year's celebrations.

During this meeting, Merced recalled her previous visit to the Inca country, where she had the opportunity to visit UNICEF projects in Loreto region. There, she experienced an emotional encounter with teenage mothers, who were learning about the proper care for their children's development during their first months of life.

Currently —focused on new film projects— the actress spoke with Aronsson and said she was really proud of her origins, such as having a Peruvian mother.

"I am a mix of a lot of things. What defines me is my family and my friends," the 18-year-old movie star stated.

Moreover, Merced was asked about her participation in the film "Dora and the Lost City of Gold" where she had to speak the traditional Quechua language.

"I took classes with a teacher. He sent me voice notes and recordings (...) so that I could hear the small details," the young artist expressed.

As is known, the Peruvian performer is closely linked with the cause of empowering children and adolescents around the world.
