Peru's soccer team will make its debut against the Qatari one at Copa America 2020 in Medellin (Colombia) on June 14.

But this is not the first time Peru will face Qatar. The Inca squad already managed to defeat its counterpart in a friendly match held in Doha back five years ago.

Fans expect to repeat the result of the first match both teams played on September 9, 2014. On that occasion, Qatar was beaten by Peru (0-2) thanks to the goals scored by Alexander Callens and Paolo Guerrero.

At that time, the squad used to be coached by Uruguayan Pablo Bengoechea.

Copa America

Co-hosted by Argentina and Colombia, Copa America 2020 will start on June 12 at Monumental Stadium in Buenos Aires. The tournament will kick off with the Argentina-Chile match.

A month later, the final will be held at Metropolitano de la Caribeña in the Colombian city of Barranquilla.

In the tournament, Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Paraguay, Bolivia, and Australia will belong to Group A. Colombia, Brazil, Ecuador, Venezuela, Qatar, and Peru will be placed in Group B.

For the first time in history, this tournament will be hosted by two different countries.
