The immigration issue will be addressed during the visit of U.S. Secretary of State Rex W. Tillerson to Peru, Foreign Affairs Minister Cayetana Aljovin informed Monday.

Other topics to be discussed include the bilateral agenda and the preparations for the upcoming Summit of the Americas —scheduled for April this year.

"The immigration issue will be addressed with the Secretary of State […]. Talks will also focus on bilateral issues and the Summit of the Americas," she told local Canal N news station.

Aljovin underscored the great affection the U.S. Government's senior official has for Peru for being the first country he ever visited as a freshman back in the 1970s.

"The Secretary of State [Tillerson] visited Peru in the 1970s. He loves Peru very much. It was the first country he ever visited […] and this is an indicator of how we are perceived abroad," the minister expressed.

"He included Peru on his first Latin American tour not only because of his affection for it but also for the great things we [Peruvians] have to offer," she added.

As is known, U.S. Secretary of State Rex W. Tillerson will land in Lima today for a two-day official visit to Peru as part of his first multi-stop trip to Latin America as Secretary of State.
