Andean Community (CAN) Secretary-General Jorge Hernando Pedraza delivered a formal greeting to Peru's Foreign Affairs Minister Elizabeth Astete.


During the meeting —held on Wednesday— the authorities discussed a number of current issues and others related to the Andean integration process.

The head of the subregional organization informed of the progress and activities undertaken by the Andean Community in different fields of action.

Additionally, Pedraza explained the strategy implemented to handle the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as Colombia's work plan as holder of the pro-tempore presidency of the CAN.

As is known, Astete was sworn in as Foreign Affairs Minister by President Francisco Sagasti on November 18 in a ceremony held at the Lima-based Government Palace.

She holds a bachelor's degree in International Relations and is a member of the Diplomatic Service of the Republic of Peru.
