Peru-born Aracely Quispe Neira has worked on the
Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) of
U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) for six years. She was the Space Operations lead engineer of this mission.
LRO is a robotic mission that set out to map the moon's surface and, after a year of exploration, was extended with a unique set of science objectives.
With this experience, she joined the
James Webb Space Telescope —due to be launched in 2021— which combined the work of more than 3,000 scientists and 17 countries around the world.
"I'm so proud to be the first Peruvian to make history in such an important event for the world," she stated.
She has been an international lecturer for a decade and manages her own brand: "Aracely Quispe Neira, a story that inspires."
Quispe disseminates science and technology. Besides, she seeks to break the paradigm and inertia of the "I can't."
She has a motivating story to tell: that of a girl who grew up in Morropon population center (Lambayeque region) without electricity, who attended public schools and found it very difficult to learn English upon arrival in the United States.
In addition, she was granted a U.S. green card for extraordinary ability in karate and her outstanding academic career.
