Representatives from the
Asia-Pacific Cooperation (APEC) meet in the Peruvian capital city, Lima, to discuss Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS).
On Monday, 19 out of the 21 APEC member economies attended the opening event.
Participants convene to share experiences and solutions about transportation.
"The topics discussed during this meeting include better integration of transportation modes and development of adequate logistics systems," Transport Deputy Minister Carlos Estremadoyro expressed.
During his opening speech, the official highlighted the importance of efficiently integrating the different modes of transportation at the service of the population and the economy.
"This is an opportunity to mutually benefit from the experiences we have gained in our countries (…)," he added.
Established in 1991, the Transportation Working Group works towards trade liberalization and facilitation in the transport sector, economic and technical assistance, and capacity building.
